31st December: News from the track and Australia

Can you help?

Gerald Richter has asked me to pass on a request for any helpers willing to give up a few hours up at the track this coming Saturday, 5th January 2008. With very poor weather conditions forecast for later in the month we need to get as much done as possible to prepare for the start of the new season in March. Volunteers will need to bring some boots, warm clothing, a shovel / spade of some sort and a sense of humour. Work will get underway at about 9am and all should report to the pits gate entrance, further down Lady Lane, and park in the pits car park.

Australian Championships.

If, like me, you tried to listen to the coverage of round one of the Aussie Championships and only managed .. "And here comes .... wearing a ... cap. He'll start in gate .... So far he's scored .... points from .... rides ..." then you'll be delighted with this email, received this morning from our correspondent out in Aus, Chris Seaward. Chris wasn't at the first round but will be commentating on all the other rounds on Radio Fremantle (link below).

Hi everyone from sunny Adelaide!

Good news.

Nev spoke to the radio station today who have agreed to double the bandwidth for the next broadcast from Gillman. The station had already increased the bandwidth but were literally overwhelmed by the amount of hits and listeners, the figures look to be a record.

We have been at the track today setting up in preparation for Wednesday and fingers crossed everything should be ok.

Apologies for the problems with the first broadcast and thanks for sticking with us.

Chris Seaward
