Gerald Richter has asked me to pass on a request for any helpers willing to give up a few hours up at the track this coming Saturday, 5th January 2008. With very poor weather conditions forecast for later in the month we need to get as much done as possible to prepare for the start of the new season in March. Volunteers will need to bring some boots, warm clothing, a shovel / spade of some sort and a sense of humour. Work will get underway at about 9am and all should report to the pits gate entrance, further down Lady Lane, and park in the pits car park.
Australian Championships.
Round 2 from Gillman, 15 km from the centre of Adelaide.
Better bandwidth (less drop out of signal) but problems with broadcasting equipment meant it was a nightmare intro for Chris Seaward and company in the first 4 heats. However, Chris got a chance to interview a very relaxed and refreshed Leigh Adams who is fit and raring to go when the British season gets underway.
B Final Line Up: Freddie Lindgren, Filip Sitera, Travis McGowan and Cameron Woodward.
Lindgren gates well from Sitera but McGowan falls badly on third bend. Hit fence backwards very hard. No other rider involved. Ambulance crews on track. Bike is pretty well destroyed. Just heard he's conscious but still on the track. Being put onto stretcher and taken to hospital. There will be a delay while the ambulance is away. It's 11.15pm and there's still two races to complete. Travis feeling groggy and complaining of some pain in his shoulder.
A Final Line Up: Chris Holder, Joe Screen, Jason Doyle and Troy Batchelor
Holder, Batchelor and Screen at end of first lap. Holder pulling out lead on Batchelor. Holder ultra smooth and takes second win of the series. Lost only one point all night, to Jason Doyle. Holder tightens his grip on the Championship but the performance of Troy Batchelor will do much to brighten the mood of Swindon fans after the bad accident involving Travis McGowan in the B final.

I just happened on this in the Swindon forum and will put it to the lads when we meet tomorrow at the track :
"I get the feeling the guys driving the tractors around the track would be quicker than our reserves ... wonder what sort of an average our tractor drivers are on who knows we might be able to get them in to the reserve bays after the first green sheets are out. he he."
