British Speedway GP at Cardiff 2002

Our love affair with Cardiff continued in 2002.

Whilst the racing may have been a little processional, the atmosphere inside the satdium was amazing. We also came to really appreciate the atmosphere in Cardiff during the day. The air horns were never far away but what really impressed was the incredibly friendly atmosphere amongst the fans. Unlike some other major sports, the speedway fan is a fan of the sport primarily. We may not love some of the participants but that's no cause for angst and anger.

Dave and Steffie, my children, meet up with the delightful Krisof Ciegelski (must check that spelling). He could not have been nicer and it's a great pity that someone so personable should be so badly injured.

The riders make their entrance - dry ice and the loudest wall of noise I've experienced since Deep Purple in 1972!

The riders make their way out of the pits.
