A good week weatherwise. Wednesday was mainly a mammoth fence board and dog track covers cleaning session after Friday's mudbath. At the same time some 200 tons of assorted rubble was being dumped and spread on our new car park to try and stabilise the surface. We also had more visitors from Sainsbury's taking water and gas samples from their boreholes.
Friday was another good day where Doc had ideal conditions for preparing and watering the circuit without any help from above. We also managed to cover the dog track early in the day which saved a bit of time later, such that instead of doing the covers I had the pleasure of assisting with the vital task of measuring the environmental mats!
The meeting against the Sheffield Tigers had a few incidents enlivened by some exotic refereeing decisions One heat was particularly bemusing to me - Ricky Ashworth had stopped early on and later on Richard Hall hit the fence on the fourth bend and came down, only to pick himself up - the referee after this put the red lights, apparently because a fence board had been dislodged and awarded the race as a 5-1 rather than a 5-0 - apparently not excluding anybody. The other highspot of the meeting was the riding of Josh Auty including a heat 9 race win from the back against Thomas Jonasson and Andrew Tully which was the best race so far this season in my opinion. Inexplicably a section of the home crowd booed Josh, probably a throwback to events at Sheffield the previous evening.
My thanks to all who assisted in clearing up after the meeting resulting in the earliest finishing time - about 10.15 pm - that I can recall
Finally I must apologise for the quality of the photos as some fool forgot my camera and I had to use my phone instead.
