Those who have been reading the blog over the last three years will know that one of its most valued supporters is the author Jeff Scott, he of "Showered in Shale", "Shale Britannia", "Shifting Shale" and, amongst others, the most recent work, "Concrete for Breakfast."
With the season just around the corner I thought I'd start a series of features on speedway related web sites that the good internet fan should take a look at on a regular basis, other than the rather obvious BSPA sites.
The first one on my list is always "Showered in Shale", a blog written by Jeff. Always full of insight and never afraid to tread where others shy away, Jeff's blog is a joy to read.
And if you don't own at least one of his books, you're missing out. "Concrete" is up for a major sporting book award soon - up against mighty tomes covering major sports and major sporting events. That's not to say that speedway isn't a major sporting event - it's just not quite there with the footballs etc. of this world.
So when a true speedway fan like Jeff uses his undoubted writing and observational talents to capture something of the nature of the sport in print and then finds that work chosen by well respected sports writers as suitable material for consideration in a major award scheme, then our sport benefits enormously.
